kitty_headshot_4Kitty Norton is an Emmy Award winning musician, critically acclaimed filmmaker and writer.

Born in Jamaica, Kitty’s uncle is reggae legend Bunny Wailer – of Bob Marley and the Wailers fame. As a youth, Kitty enjoyed singing gospel, R&B and traditional Jamaican “mento” music. In her pre-teen years, Kitty started writing original songs and worked as a session vocalist at Prince’s fabled Paisley Park studios in Minnesota.

As founder of Brizo Media Group (a US based production company), Kitty’s corporate video production clients have included: the Pentagon (US Department of Defense), MTV, Disney Channel, Interscope, Island-Def Jam, KidzBop, Sony, Whole Foods and Justin Bieber.

She co-created, co-directed, co-wrote and co-starred in The Zinghoppers Show, a children’s television series which earned six regional Emmy Award nominations and was broadcast on over 150 PBS member stations nationwide and in 175 countries on the AFN Family Channel and on Trinity Broadcast Network. Her 2015 feature length documentary film Jug Band Hokum, includes appearances by Garrison Keillor, Charlie Parr and rap legends Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. The film had a successful run at major film festivals and independent cinemas around the world and is currently available on Amazon.

In addition to her work in film and television, Kitty Norton is a successful performing musician and has toured with Norah Jones, Dave Van Ronk, Leon Redbone and the Squirrel Nut Zippers. Recently she performed in 19 countries for the US Pentagon, entertaining military families in Europe, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Kitty has performed at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC and at the legendary Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee.

cannes(1)In 2017, four original songs written and performed by Kitty (and her husband Jack) were featured in the Oscar nominated Willem Dafoe film The Florida Project (A24) by director Sean Baker (Tangerine) which debuted at the 49th edition of Cannes Directors’ Fortnight as part of the Cannes Film Festival.

theunbecoming_cover-jpgIn early 2019, Kitty released her inspiring and humorous memoir, The Unbecoming, detailing her journey of losing 345 pounds naturally, without surgery, fad diets or pills. The book reached the #2 position in the Self-Help: Eating Disorders and Body Image, #9 in the Health, Fitness & Diet, and #11 in the Self-Help categories on Amazon in its first week of publication. She is currently working on additional books to help others create their best and healthiest lives, and is enjoying taking on a few ballet classes in her spare time.
